a new uniform

While shopping in the States this holiday, I noticed a strange trend that seemed to be taking over young women everywhere. Almost 85% of the female population were wearing a uniform that consisted of: a North Face fleece jacket, jeans (from American Eagle, Hollister or A&F) and Ugg boots. This outfit is so prevalent and well-known that all I had to do was Google image search "North Face Uggs" and these two pics popped up.

Now, I'm not saying that I haven't previously owned all of these items because I have, but there is no reason to be wearing your North Face fleece anywhere other than under your ski jacket on the slopes.
Choosing your outfit when going on a serious shopping excursion is a bit of a practiced art. The following items will make your life a lot easier:


1. a light jacket or sweater that won't kill your arm if you have to carry it around when you get hot
2. a shoulder or across-body bag will leave your hands free to zip through the racks
3. shoes or boots that are quick to take on and off. look for slip on boots, easy access zippers, that sort of thing.
